Edna Bay is an off-the-grid, 2nd class city with 40 full time residents located on the NW side of Sea Otter Sound. Accessible by boat or float plane only. Unleaded, diesel, and heating fuel is available for purchase. There is also a newer State Dock to moor boats, and a road system which accommodates full sized vehicles. Most residents also keep a vehicle in Naukati to access the road service on Prince of Wales Island which includes larger grocery stores, an airport with reliable flight service to Ketchikan, and medical clinics. It is a 40 minute boat ride to Naukati from Edna Bay. With the recent addition of Starlink internet, blazing high speed internet is available for work, homeschooling, or streaming movies in these remote locations. Vehicles and supplies are transported to Edna Bay by a barge. Edna Bay also has a store, school (not currently open) and a library. There is also playground equipment for the kids at the school. Taquan Air flies in on floats 3x a week weather permitting. No property tax.
